The goal of Environmental Education Scotland is to provide environmental education and produce projects which save individuals/businesses money, improve personal mental and physical health, reduce the effects of climate change and make life more sustainable.

Several projects are proposed which would have wide reaching impacts across Britain and the world. 

Purpose of the role

The role of the treasurer is to have overall responsibility for the monitoring, recording and reporting of the organisations finances   


  • To open a bank account on behalf of the organisation  
  • To receive regular bank statements and to reconcile these with the groups accounts 
  • To oversee all bank transactions (pay-ins, withdrawals, signing cheques, ordering statements and cheque books)
  • To maintain a cash book showing all monies coming in and going out of funds
  • To pay any bills and to keep and file the receipts 
  • To keep and file all canceled cheques, invoices, receipts etc
  • To oversee any petty cash system operated including the keeping of a specific petty cash book, issuing petty cash vouchers and reconciling the totals at the end of each period
  • To produce monthly balance sheet to report accounts and produce budget predictions
  • To produce an annual balance sheet for each AGM
  • To ensure that the accounts are examined appropriately
  • To ensure that all major financial decisions appear in the minutes of the group
