This well-known, international accountancy practice currently requires a Trainee Business Adviser to join its team based in Edinburgh.

The Role

The role will primarily involve working closely with, and supporting senior members within the team, and assisting in the timely delivery of services, whilst being supervised and supported by other senior members of the team.  You will gain understanding and experience in preparing a set of financial statements and management accounts, and accounting back office functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing both statutory and annual accounts for clients from client’s accounting systems and records under the supervision of more senior members of the team.
  • Produce complete accountancy working paper files to support the accounts
  • Prepare accounts for sole practitioners, partnerships and statutory accounts for small companies, trusts and charities.
  • Support the senior members of the team with any budget requirements and ensure awareness of the budget at all times.
  • Participate in sales and marketing initiatives. 
  • Working on the outsourced management accounts preparation for UK subsidiaries of international clients.
  • VAT and PAYE compliance.
  • Work as part of a team to provide ad-hoc accounting assistance and ensure clients are provided with excellent service.
  • Provision of outsourced bookkeeping services for clients, using cloud accounting packages
  • Completion of both monthly and quarterly management accounts.
  • Developing business advisory skills

The Person

  • AAT Qualified, starting ACCA, or early stage ACCA trainee.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel.
  • Experience of cloud based accounting packages(Xero/Quickbooks) as well as Sage Line 50
  • A minimum of two years experience working within an accountancy practice
