The goal of Environmental Education Scotland is to provide environmental education and produce projects which save individuals/businesses money, improve personal mental and physical health, reduce the effects of climate change and make life more sustainable.

Several projects are proposed which would have wide reaching impacts across Britain and the world. 

Purpose of the role

The role of the secretary is to deal with the administrative work of the committee, including sending out notices of meetings and agenda; responding to correspondence and taking the minutes.   


  • To be familiar with the groups constitution and to assist the chairperson in helping the committee abide by it’s regulations
  • To assist the chairperson in the preparation of an agenda for the meeting
  • To send out calling notices (and the agenda – if ready)
  • To keep a record of the membership (including such details as is necessary – e.g. addresses and telephone numbers)
  • To takes of the discussions of the committee and to use these to write up a set of minutes ready for approval
  • To record in the minutes the names of those proposing or seconding motions
  • To ensure minutes are signed by the chairperson once approved
  • File and save copies of previous minutes and any correspondence 
  • To send out correspondence as agreed by the committee
  • To remind members of the date and time of the next meeting
  • To assist the chairperson in preparing reports for special meetings (e.g. AGM)
