Our mission is to protect and improve the wellbeing of young people in our care, maximising their potential and resilience, enabling their effective transition back to their communities. This is achieved through the provision of individualised high quality care, education, health, and therapeutic interventions. Services are delivered in a safe environment by a highly qualified competent workforce in partnership with families, carers and other key stakeholders.
Rossie Secure Accommodation Services is a registered Scottish Charity and the trading arm of Rossie Young People’s Trust. We are one of the longest established providers of children’s services across the UK, with our origins dating back to 1857. We are a residential centre operating a 7 day week service, 365 days of the year, with 32 bed spaces for boys and girls who are sent to us by the Children’s Hearing Panels or the Courts. Our young people have multiple and complex needs and often pose a high risk to themselves and others. We provide care, education, health and specialist interventions on site. We invest heavily in our staff to ensure they have the appropriate qualifications and competences to enable positive changes in our young people’s lives. I am proud to say Rossie’s staff retention/stability rate is 90% compared with 83% across the sector.
We are licensed by Scottish Ministers and regulated by both the Care and Education Inspectorates, and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has awarded our Training Assessment Centre accreditation status to deliver vocational qualifications levels 3 and 4. We are a learning organisation engaged in on-going improvement.
We are committed to being an effective, efficient, economically viable and sustainable organisation.
As Chair I am currently looking for new Governors who will enhance our current level of expertise and skill set. Specifically I am looking for experience in business development, income generation, fundraising, marketing, publicity, ICT and mental health.
I have been a member of the Rossie Board for 8 years, and Chair for the past 2 years and find it a most rewarding and challenging role. If you are interested in discussing these opportunities further please contact Mrs Lynne Wallace, Secretary to the Board, on 01674 820204 for further information.
I look forward to hearing from you.
