The Role

The role of Payroll Manager is a newly created role that emphasises the growth highlighted above. You will be responsible for managing a sizable and experienced team.

On Offer

The role of Payroll Manager will offer a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 plus benefits.


  • Managing the daily activities of the department
  • Developing and nurturing a team of 9 payrollers
  • Ensuring adherence to compliance and legislation by keeping up to date with changes
  • Reviewing and checking payrolls
  • Submitting BACS payments
  • Onboarding new clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process
  • Managing work allocation and workflow
  • Monitor SLAs to ensure a high quality of service is being met
  • Monitoring departmental performance and producing reports for the leadership team to illustrate how the department is faring in a clear manner
  • Dealing with technical queries from staff and clients and conducting training where necessary
  • Suggesting improvements to processes and procedures to help drive efficiencies
  • Promote and market the business to attract new work

You will be able to show the following:

  • An enthusiasm for payroll
  • Minimum of 10 years payroll experience
  • Be approachable to clients and staff
  • Experience of NEST and People’s pension schemes
  • Able to adapt to working with various types of businesses
  • Understanding of RTI and HMRC procedures
