This international firm of accountants currently requires a Payroll Assistant/Administrator join its first-class payroll bureau service based in Glasgow

The Role

Primarily responsible for the administration and processing client payrolls within the national payroll team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to day administration of multiple client payrolls.
  • Use BOND PAYRITE payroll software.
  • To process all types of manual payroll calculations.
  • To use existing knowledge of PAYE/NIC, including K codes when running client payrolls.
  • To use existing knowledge of SMP, SPP, SAP and SSP when running client payrolls.
  • To use existing knowledge of pension scheme (defined benefit, sacrifice and defined contribution) when providing administration for various payrolls.
  • To develop and keep up to date with new payroll legislation and compliance.
  • To operate RTI procedures and statutory requirements
  • To carry out payroll reconciliations and analysis.
  • To administer and process end of year return forms – RTI declarations, P60.
  • To liaise with HMRC and assist with enquiries.
  • To administer modified/foreign/expat payrolls
  • To use own initiative to resolve issues, by providing a range of solutions and seeking advice where necessary.
  • Develops and maintain relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • To grasp a quick understanding and effectively communicate the full range of services offered by the national payroll team. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Good IT skills, intermediate level of Excel is essential.
  • Significant payroll experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Accountancy Bureau payroll experience is preferable.
  • Minimum of 5 Standard Grades (or equivalent) grades A-C
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge of current payroll legislation
  • Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in using PAYRITE software.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with clients and staff.
  • Organises workload and demonstrates ability of prioritising own tasks.
  • Demonstrates attention to details and a high concern for accuracy.
  • Demonstrates ability to build and sustain deep relationships with clients and work colleagues.
  • Demonstrates good teamwork qualities and responds willingly to all team members reasonable requests.
