A well-known independent chartered accountancy firm based in Glasgow city centre are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join their Payroll team.

The Company

This practice employs around 30 members of staff and has a reputation for high quality of service for over 100 years. This well-established accountancy firm focuses on Business Advisory Services, Corporate Finance, Personal Tax, Corporate Tax, Trusts and Insolvency.

The Role

​You will be reporting to a Payroll Manager and will be working within a small payroll team. You will be completing end-to-end payroll, payroll bureau, and pensions. You will be point of contact for most clients both in person and over the phone. You must have an understanding of legislation and rules regarding tax payments and exemptions. This role will also consider Part-Time however, only if you have vast experience in payroll within an accountancy practice.

On Offer

The role for the Payroll Assistant will offer a salary up to £25,000 P.A, depending on experience plus company benefits.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Processing weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly payroll
  • Dealing with internal and external payroll questions & queries
  • Dealing with starters, leavers, P11D, P45, SMP etc.
  • Liaising with HMRC and ensuring compliance with statutory returns and regulations such as auto enrolment 
  • Improving and maintaining databases

To be considered for this opportunity you must have the following experience:

  • The ideal candidate for this role will be reliable and have excellent attention to detail
  • A minimum of 2 years practical payroll experience (essential)
  • Working knowledge of auto-enrolment (essential)
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office including excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Checking how many hours employees have worked
  • Calculate overtime, pay increases and shift payments
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • RTI and Auto-enrolment
