iMultiply are engaged with an established Scottish headquartered business for the recruitment of a Management Accountant paying £37,000 - £40,000 plus a competitive benefits package. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly or very recently qualified accountant looking to make a move from the Big4 into an industry role in a business that's keen to support their development and career progression.

The Organisation

Based in Edinburgh City Centre, the organisation employs over 300 people and boasts a number of key and diverse revenue streams. With a number of recent senior hires, the organisation has sent a message to the market that they intend to grow their market share in the short to medium term with more hires and acquisitions in the pipeline. Following these recent hires, a new position of Management Accountant has been created to allow the business to take a proactive and analytical approach to the organisation's financial performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager with a dotted line report and close working relationship with the CFO, this newly created position will take a lead role in overseeing the production of the monthly management board packs along with a key role in setting budgets, cashflows and identifying trends for senior department heads and the board of Directors.

On Offer

The role of Management Accountant will offer a salary of around £37,000-£40,000 plus a competitive benefits package. The offices premises are based in Edinburgh City Centre and easily accessible via public transport.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Prepare and present to the CFO, comprehensible, concise and timeous monthly management accounts for the Finance Committee and Board, plus a summary of key points for the wider group; both financial and analytical.
  • Take a lead role in overseeing the monthly reporting to the bank, in particular assessing the appropriateness of current covenants, cost of new borrowing, potential ideas on lending structure etc
  • Take a lead role with the CFO in the annual budget-setting process with the provision of suitable commentary to accompany the budget. Co-ordinate the budget process including preparation of an annual template and profiling of the income and expenditure for each department. Liaise with department heads and agree the numbers which then follow directly into the financial model.
  • Prepare a MI pack on working capital pulling in relevant reports from billing, credit control and debt recovery teams to present key findings to the CFO for their inclusion in Board and committee papers.
  • Attend Finance Committee meetings with the CFO to support on the analytical review and also actions resulting from that meeting which impact the projections.
  • Review the financial model and co-ordinate any changes with external auditors.
  • Prepare a detailed set of assumptions around the model which can be shared with the Finance Committee.
  • Assist the CFO in co-ordinating advisers who are providing strategic advice–summarise findings, prepare supporting documents to aid decision making and co-ordinate deliverables eg tax advisers and pension trustee advisers


Candidate requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA) – ESSENTIAL
  • Advanced Excel abilities - ESSENTIAL
  • Ability to engage, interact and influence senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
