A  9-12 month maternity leave for a PART-TIME Financial Controller in a privately owned prestigious business in Edinburgh £350 - £450 a day. 

The Company

This organisation is involved with active asset management and taking advantage of market opportunities. The company takes a long term approach to investment and development. Structured in a similar way to a private equity firm, the majority of the day-to-day asset management activity has been carried out by third parties, managed by this company's team and it has no third party debt or equity but is likely to target raising funds within the next 18 months.  

The Role 

This maternity leave FC role will manage a small Finance Team.  This role is a key member of the leadership team, providing influential support to The Board and wider senior management, as the company seeks to take its development strategy forward.  This role requires exceptional leadership and decision making skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.  The role include developing robust relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders, including financial advisors, banks and HMRC

As a member of the senior management team, your time will focus on business and strategic development.You will facilitate and direct key business discussions / decisions that may impact on short, medium & long term profitability. This will involve ownership of the financial models which tie into agreed business plans

You will also be responsible for: 

  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with all colleagues, board members and key external stakeholders. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key consultant
  • Ensure the production of regular short-term cash forecasting, quarterly reforecasting, annual budgeting and medium / long term planning, including corporate and LLP tax projections 
  • Review of transactional processing and production of Quarterly Management Accounts for Board members
  • Manage environment of tight financial control and improved governance through financial controls and procedures
  • Ensure that all statutory reporting documents are produced and all filing deadlines are met
  • Tax Planning & Structuring
  • Ability to support and challenge the board 
  • Provide financial analysis for acquisition activity and bespoke reports to the Board 

The Person

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant 
  • Experience in investment management, private equity or venture capital environment 
  • Experience of managing relationships with banks, investors and other third parties
  • Experience of raising finance, selecting potential investors and creditors, managing due diligence process 
  • First class background in financial management, systems and process development 
  • Experience of debt financial compliance, working capital and cash management 
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Team player
