The company

The business has a global footprint with a presence in over 40 countries worldwide that has expanded rapidly and also through a significant merger that boosted their global reach and differentiates their world class expertise in key sectors from their competitors. Following this trend of world class expertise, their Edinburgh office is also home to their Finance Centre of Excellence of which this new role will have a large influence in shaping and developing as part of the senior management team in Edinburgh.

Looking ahead, the company is focussed on replicating the ethos of continuous improvement around systems, processes, controls, risk and compliance across each of its locations globally and are looking to bring in an individual of the highest calibre to take full responsibility for the role and be seen as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for a range of technical matters both locally and internationally. 

 

The role

This is a stand alone role that is one of 3 senior managers within the controllership team, based in Edinburgh. Each Senior Manager brings a wealth of knowledge and know-how to drive performance while operating in a hands-on role. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Control, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identify and develop ways to improve processes and the control environment across the group
  • Take responsibility for group treasury and cash management
  • Develop the firm's internal audit capability
  • Develop and deliver training to staff on financial risk and compliance
  • Assume a lead role in ad hoc projects and initiatives
  • Deputise for the Head of Financial Control as appropriate

 

Given the high degree of visibility this role brings it is essential that candidates who are interested in this position are fully accustomed to working with and presenting to a number of senior individuals in their current role and can demonstrate their business partnering capabilities at this level. Whilst exposure to treasury functions would be of interest, it is not a prerequisite and the business would encourage candidates that do not have this experience to apply.

Candidate requirements

  • Qualified CA/ACCA with minimum 7 years PQE
  • Excellent business partnering skills with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skillset with a high attention to detail
  • A proactive and solutions based attitude towards challenges
  • Accustomed to working in a large complex international groups
  • Track record in developing processes and controls
  • Treasury and cash management desirable but not essential
