Financial Accountant - Edinburgh

The Role

The position of Financial Accountant will report to the Senior Group Financial Accountant with responsibilities based locally and internationally. You will be responsible for supporting and assisting the group finance function in controlling the Firm’s capital and investment accounting, carrying out monthly postings and reconciliations, as well as partnering and advising the Business Support functions on current performance, annual budget setting, and quarterly reforecasting for project expenditure.

The role of Financial Accountant will offer a salary of £38,000 - £42,000 plus a highly competitive benefits package including bonus & pension allowances. The offices premises are based in Edinburgh city centre and easily accessible via public transport however the role will be remotely based initially

You will be involved with but not restricted to the below duties:

• Ensuring group fixed assets and investments are properly recorded and depreciated in accordance with Firmwide policies and processes.
• Liaising with global finance teams in a group oversight capacity to ensure timely coordination of tasks.
• Routinely controlling and reconciling live project expenditure in conjunction with the Project Management Office, Procurement, Facilities, IT, and other Business Support functions.
• Routinely attending commercial meetings to plan, initiate, capture, and track new capital expenditure in line with process.
• Maintaining fixed asset software, associated asset registers, and commercial reconciliations.
• Responsible for preparing and posting month end journals as part of a team, ensuring all deliverables are consistently met.
• Preparing and substantiating month end Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting and advising the business and global finance teams during the group annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles, updating capital planning software tools accordingly.
• Preparing statutory fixed assets and investments disclosure notes and providing ad hoc request information as part of the year end audit process.
• Actively contribute towards the timely achievement of wider finance team deliverables and continuous improvement of internal processes, including the implementation and development of new practice software.
• Routine preparation and filing of ONS capital expenditure surveys.
• Ensuring the group chart of accounts is properly controlled and correctly maintained.
• Supporting the team as required, providing cover for team members in times of absence.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

• Qualified Accountant (Essential)
• Strong technical accounting experience i.e. FRS102, UK GAAP etc
• Ability to business partner and influence senior stakeholders
• Excellent working knowledge of CRM systems, MS Office and Advanced Excel
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
