A fantastic opportunity for 6 months (with a view to permanent for the right person) for a Financial Accountant. In this role you will support the Group Finance Manager and other members of the extended Group Finance team to provide monthly and year-end consolidated management accounts, including balance sheet, cash flow, and budgeting and periodic forecasts

A multisite corporate organisation on the outskirts of Edinburgh which is a market leader in its sector. The finance team are sociable and collaborative and contractors are treated as permanent employees (in terms of inclusion and decision making) 


The Role


This role works closely with shared service finance teams across the world, and requires an understanding of technical accounting under UK Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The Financial Accountant will be a combination of BAU and integration project work.


The Outputs and Deliverables

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly consolidated balance sheet and cash flow
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow budget and forecasts as required
  • Review monthly Balance Sheet & cash flow submissions from the regional controllers / shared service teams for an understanding of the factors driving monthly and year to date movements, and variances on prior year
  • Assist in the preparation of technical accounting papers as required
  • Assist with the insurance renewal process
  • Assist with the finance integration process
  • Assist in the review of statutory financial statements from our global entities
The Person
  • Qualified Accountant (or qualified by experience)
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Experience of Hyperion would be an advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well and communicate at all levels
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met with a keen eye for detail
  • Drive and motivation to ensure self and team succeeds in achieving fixed and demanding deadlines
  • Displays a “can do” attitude which is focussed on targets and deadlines
  • A self-starter who does not wait for others to solve problems
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work within a fast paced, ever-changing environment
