A Glasgow-based charity has a requirement for a Part-Qualified Accountant.

The Company

From their offices in Glasgow’s East End, this charity provides a variety of support services and community-based activities. Their main aim is to improve the health and well-being of local families and vulnerable groups.

The Role

The Accountant’s responsibilities will be varied and you will be the main point of contact for financial matters within the organisation. By utilising your previous experience within a similar environment, you will become a key stakeholder and you will gain exposure to many high-level functions within the charity which will aid your long-term development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present Management Accounts
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and the Treasurer to oversee month and year end financial reporting
  • Manage organisation-wide budgets
  • Manage all invoicing via Sage
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Prepare payroll information and liaise with outsourced payroll provider to manage any issues accordingly
  • Assist senior management with funding applications
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, banks and other stakeholders
  • Maintain, review and improve procedures with a view to maximising efficiency
  • Produce and present analysis of performance, project costs, cashflow, and other ad hoc reports

This exciting and challenging role offers a salary in the region of £26k. The office is easily accessible by public transport and there are parking facilities nearby.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • Ideally, you will be a part-qualified Accountant who can demonstrate progress in studying towards a professional qualification, although this is not an essential requirement
  • You must have a demonstrable track record of working within a charity
  • Experience of using Sage is essential
  • You must be an experienced user of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Access would be beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills will be required and you will be comfortable in presenting complex financial information to employees including Board level
  • Excellent analytical skills will be required
