One of Edinburgh's most renowned non for profit organisations are currently looking for a Finance Officer to join their close-knit finance team.

On Offer

The position of Finance Officer has arisen on a permanent basis offering a competitive salary of between £23,000 - £26,000 as well as excellent benefits.  

The Role 

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Calculation and posting of relevant journals for income and expenditure; accruals and prepayments and inter-company journals
  • Analysis of variances to budget or forecast
  • Production of Income and Expenditure and Balance sheets for 2 companies within the Group.
  • Complete the reconciliations for an agreed set of balance sheet control accounts
  • Support operational managers with management accounts and ad hoc financial information.
  • To ensure that all support sales invoices are correctly prepared and posted to the accounting system.
  • Keep the income database on excel up to date and use pivot tables from the database to work out monthly income accruals.
  • To prepare the monthly debtors report and a summary report for all Senior Managers.
  • Supporting the Finance Business Partner and Finance Manager with regular reforecasting and annual budgeting.
  • To cover for the Payroll Manager to ensure full time cover of the payroll function.
  • To pro-actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Finance Function.

To be considered for this opportunity you must have the following experience:

  • Experience of preparing Management Accounts, including being able to independently work out and post journals and prepare Income and Expenditure Accounts and Balance sheets.
  • Experience of working with computerised accounting packages, including sales and nominal ledgers.
  • Experience credit control and debtor management
  • An accounting qualification to at least HNC level, AAT or qualified by experience.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel at Intermediate level, Word and Outlook.
