An experienced Chartered Accountant is required for a Finance manager position within a Glasgow-based software firm.


The Company

This rapidly-expanding business been going through a period of phenomenal success in recent years and they now have a requirement for a talented and experienced CA to grow and develop their finance team. There is currently an established office in Glasgow city centre, along with multiple international sites and more are planned in the coming years. Glasgow will be seen as the headquarters for all financial matters across the business.


The Role

It is a newly-created position which is required to aid the on-going expansion of the business. You will be a technically gifted accountant, ideally with an Audit background, with experience of statutory reporting, taxation, etc. You will be the main driver for continuous process improvement / implementation so you will have a demonstrable track record of managing such projects. Also, you will be tasked with leading and growing the small team, with a focus on succession planning and staff development.



  • Assist the Head of Finance in overseeing and developing the overall finance function, and ensuring appropriate controls and procedures are in place
  • Statutory reporting
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP / IFRS
  • Prepare and present Management Accounts with variance analysis
  • Prepare and submit tax returns
  • Maintain control over Accounts Payable & Receivable and deal with any issues 
  • Prepare and analyse P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
  • Act as the first point of contact for relevant external stakeholders such as auditors, HMRC, banks etc
  • Review current software packages and make recommendations for improvements or replacements where necessary
  • Assist with budgeting process with regular analysis on actual Vs budget
  • Provide on-going training and development to members of the finance team, including regular review, coaching and annual appraisals
  • Assist the Head of Finance with ad hoc projects
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management


On Offer 

This opportunity if offered on a permanent basis and comes with an attractive £45-55k salary, along with other benefits. The office is in an easily accessible City Centre location.



  • You will be an ICAS qualified (or equivalent) accountant with at least 1-2 years PQE
  • An Audit background gained within a Chartered Accountancy firm would be strongly preferred
  • Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS will be required
  • Experience of managing the performance of a small team is essential
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills will be required
  • Knowledge of XERO would be beneficial but training can be provided
  • You must have a keen eye for detail with a proven track record of preparing and presenting accurate information to senior stakeholders
