A 12 month FTC for a qualified accountant to do a very varied role within a complex and interesting not for profit organisation. This role has both management accounting and technical elements so a good grasp of IFRS is essential. 

The Organisation

A large not for profit organisation with a collaborative and sociable culture. The Finance team is on a business partnering journey and has developed an influential role within the different departments and sub teams. 

The Role

The Finance Manager is a key role within the team and is responsible for management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting under IFRS. The role will lease with all directors, departmental heads, managers, auditors and Scottish Executive. Driving efficiencies and improving customer service and financial control will be central to the scope of the role. 

On Offer

This role will be on an FTC basis but may convert to a permanent contract within the first 6-12 months. The salary will be £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience and you will receive an excellent pension, excellent holiday entitlement and flexible working hours. The team is sociable with a strong work ethic and the environment is dynamic with multiple projects on the go. 

Responsibilities and scope of the role:

  • Planning, setting and monitoring the organisations budget and being responsible for a mid year financial review and forecast
  • Ensuring the budget is compliance with Scottish Government and regulatory standards
  • Having significant input into the preparation of the annual accounts under IFRS and support the financial accountant
  • To review and report on the budget position of the organisation, provide reports to the board and leadership team and provide commentary and recommendations on budget variances
  • Working with heads of department and directors throughout the planning process to identify all risks are identified and reviewed
  • Act as finance lead on any projects
  • Uphold a culture of continuous improvement for all financial controls and policies

Personal Requirements:

  • Fully qualified with a minimum of 5 years PQE experience
  • Experience of preparation of financial statements under IFRS
  • Staff management and training experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with key stakeholders across the entire organisation
  • An innovative approach to problem solving and analysis
