A temporary contract for a Finance Manager of a transactional services team including Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Payroll. This role is to start asap. 

The Company

An Edinburgh not for profit organisation with excellent public transport links. This organisation has recently gone through organisational restructuring and implemented new accounting software

The Role

  • Responsible for the effective management of the finance staff team covering; sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll & expenses 
  • To ensure all daily and monthly financial transactions are processed accurately and timeously to produce the first draft of the monthly management accounts
  • To ensure all financial system internal controls are operational and fit for purpose
  • Completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Posting of various month end journals – investments, stock, flexible benefits and other adjustments

Key challenges in the role will include: 

  • Actively manage the team of 8 
  • Ability to problem solve and support team resolve errors in ledgers
  • Actively contribute to solutions to systems implementation issues
  • Liaison with budget holders to reduce aged debt
  • Escalation to budget holders if financial procedures are not being followed 
  • Work prioritisation across the finance team
  • Dealing with finance queries from across the organisation effectively

The Person

  • Excellent people management skills to motivate and develop the team
  • Strong IT skills with excellent excel skills and extensive knowledge of financial systems
  • High levels of drive and initiative to problem solve and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels across the Organisation
  • Be positive and resilient
