A 12 month contract within a value's driven not-for-profit organisation in Edinburgh city centre for an accountant with staff management, budgeting and management accounting experience

This role has full operational responsibility for the finance department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and reports, and effective management of income, expenditure and cashflow.
This includes preparation of budgets, management accounts, forecasts and analysis of variances; reporting to funders and budget holders; VAT returns; preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with auditors.
The post holder will line-manage the finance team, currently 2 people, who post all transactions to TAS, generate invoices, chase debtors, pay suppliers and support the preparation of management reports.
Prepare and regularly report on management accounts, analysing variances and exploring potential problems within tight Trustee reporting deadlines
Provide financial information to the Leadership Team and Service Managers for funding applications, reports to funders and for published reports, all within their timescales
Manage cashflow including the preparation of cash flow statements
Support Service Managers in setting their budgets, and managing their respective financial performance effectively - ensuring and influencing best practice across the organisation
Prepare statutory accounts ready for audit
Ensure the accuracy of VAT returns, payroll and Gift Aid claims
Support the Head of Finance and Corporate Services on ad-hoc projects
Manage and develop the Finance team, currently a full time Finance Officer and part time Finance Assistant. Provide line management that adheres to relevant HR policies and procedures. Ensure each staff member has an individual work-plan disseminated from the Business Plan, and receives regular support and supervision meetings
Deliver all core components of this role ensuring effective financial control and management with evidence of accuracy, reliability, attention to detail, ability to prioritise and in line with company policies, procedures and values
