A Glasgow-based SME requires an experienced Finance Assistant to join their rapidly expanding team.

The Company

Now boasting multiple sites throughout Scotland, this thriving business has gone through a period of growth in recent years and now need some additional support to maintain and develop their finance function.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the transactional side of the business and ensuring processes are improved and senior management are made aware of any issues. Initially, there will be a big focus on maintaining the Payroll function and ensuring efficient processes are in place. You will also be a key point of contact for suppliers with regards to invoicing queries. In time, it is likely that additional staff will be added to finance team and you may take on some supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Processing payroll, maintaining accurate payroll data, dealing with HMRC returns and paying employee expenses
  • Accounts Payable duties, processing of invoices and running payments to suppliers
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Deal with any Credit Control requirements as they arise
  • Act as the first point of contact for customers and suppliers with regards to finance and invoicing queries
  • Assist Senior Management with the review of current processes and make any necessary improvements to ensure efficiency
  • Provide senior management with updates on business performance and ensure any issues are communicated effectively

On Offer

This role is offered on a permanent basis and comes with a salary of £20-22k. The office is easily accessible by public transport.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • It is essential that you have experience of a similar role within a fast-paced volume environment
  • You must have knowledge and experience of working within a multi-site business, for example retail or hospitality
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Payroll legislation is essential
  • An accountancy or bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous
  • Experience of Sage will be required
  • You will have a demonstrable track-record of reviewing and improving processes
