The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is a key part of the finance function. This forward-thinking firm are keen to introduce new innovative technology’s to streamline processes to get ahead of the curve. Working alongside the legal cashier team, you will also be working closely with the Finance Manager, assisting with reports, billing and more. Ideally, this role would be suitable for someone with some legal cashier experience looking to widen their finance knowledge.

On Offer

The position of Finance & Legal Assistant is offering a salary of between £20,000 - £24,000 including an excellent benefits package and generous holiday allowance. Their offices are based in Edinburgh city centre and are easily accessible via public transport.

 

The main duties and responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Report into the Finance Manager and provide support as required
  • Process payments and receipts electronically, by check, or by bank draft.
  • Operate the online banking system for fund transactions whilst being mindful of anti-fraud procedures
  • Daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Processing partner payments
  • Preparation of client and office banking
  • Assisting Finance Manager at month and year-end
  • Posting of office cash receipts to ledgers, liaising with credit control regarding correct allocation
  • Liaise with fee earners regarding transactions
  • Use of online banking systems for processing payments
  • Purchase Ledger duties
  • Provide audit evidence and ensure compliance with Law Society rules for client funds

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • Previous legal experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Working towards an accountancy qualification or SOLAS qualified
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of working within an accountancy role
  • Show excellent people skills
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, an exposure to any financial systems would be advantageous but not essential
