iMultiply have been exclusively appointed to assist with the permanent hire of a European Financial Controller based in Edinburgh paying £60,000 - £70,000 plus a strong benefits package.

The Role

The position of European Financial Controller with report into the Senior Financial Controller with a dotted line to the Finance Director & CFO. The individual will be responsible for a overseeing the financial and management accounting for a number of key European entities including UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Netherlands etc. To be considered for this opportunity you must be a qualified Accountant with a proven track record of operating as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller, ideally with international accounting experience. 

On Offer

The role of European Financial Controller will offer a salary of £60,000 - £70,000 plus a highly competitive benefits package including generous bonus, pension, holidays and private medical healthcare.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Reporting to and deputising for the Senior Financial Controller
  • Involvement in a number of high value & business critical projects such as M&A activity, process improvement, change/transformation & system optimisation 
  • Managing a small finance team both locally & internationally 
  • Overseeing financial accounting and ensuring adherence with local and international accounting principles
  • Overseeing monthly management accounts and month end close – balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals.
  • Variance analysis with ability to understand & challenge discrepancies 
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Liaising with transactional finance – purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control & payroll
  • Analysis of intercompany transactions
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Reviewing and developing processes, procedures & controls
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Adhoc duties

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:

  • Qualified Accountant, ideally 5 years+ post qualification experience
  • Track record of operating at Finance Manager or Financial Controller level
  • International accounting experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to liaise, interact and influence senior stakeholders 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
