This award winning established large independent Chartered Accountancy Firm is currently recruiting for a Business Services Senior to join its team predominantly based in Inverness 

The Firm

The firm is an award winning, large, regional, independent Chartered Accountancy firm providing a full range of professional services including audit, accountancy, tax and corporate finance.

The Role

The role will provide you with a high degree of autonomy and represents the opportunity to assist in the continuing growth and development of the Inverness office as well as working closely with their Accounts and Business Support team in their Edinburgh office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of year end accounts for a variety of clients
  • Preparation of management accounts and providing meaningful commentaries on the figures which will assist clients in effectively running their businesses
  • Preparation of forecasts, business plans and other ad hoc reports
  • Preparation of VAT Returns including partial exemption calculations
  • Providing clients with commentary on the results for the year
  • Assisting with review and development of improved working practices and in-house training sessions - Assisting in business development opportunities
  • Assisting in the training and coaching of junior staff
  • Developing and maintaining client contact and relationships

Skills and Experience

This role is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to take the next step in your accounting career. Your skills/experience should include:

  • Professionally qualified or part qualified accountant or qualified by experience
  • Experience within an accountancy firm
  • Willingness to take responsibility and suggest solutions to problems encountered
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation whilst also being a team player
  • Excellent MS Excel skills - Good knowledge of accounting software packages including Sage and/or Quick Books and/or Xero experience
  • Good technical (financial reporting) skills
  • Good time management skills and the ability to efficiently organise your own workload
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to meet client deadlines and within agreed budgets
  • Knowledge of the not for profit sector and charities sector with independent examination experience is desirable
