A well known and market leading accountancy practice currently requires an experienced Bookkeeper to join its Kilmarnock office

​This is an award winning accountancy practice with multiple offices across Scotland and expertise in many areas including accounts, audit, tax, corporate finance and business recovery

The Role

The successful candidate will ensure the smooth completion of the bookkeeping jobs within the Kilmarnock office, working in a fast-paced team responsible for the delivery of CIS, bookkeeping and VAT services across a wide variety of industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to follow instruction and work as part of a team with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to keep track of multiple tasks at once and effectively communicate progress with team members
  • Update internal system with current job status
  • Ability to take responsibility for deliver of VAT return and bookkeeping services to clients including preparation of VAT returns from start to finish and maintenance of sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Ability to provide ad hoc bookkeeping support to clients over the phone and in person including providing basic training to client bookkeepers.
  • Completes all administration in a timely manner (including timesheets) and to a high standard.  

Suitable candidates for this role will possess:

  • Effective team working skills
  • Effective planning and organising skills 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels.
  • IT literate; good knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills – separate assessment may be requested. 
  • Cloud accounting experience is preferred
  • SAGE 50 experience or equivalent is essential
  • Self motivated
