On Offer

The position of Accounts Assistant will offer a salary of £20,000 - £25,000 plus an excellent benefits package. The organisation is looking for a talented individual with strong organisational capabilities and a willingness to learn and develop.                     

The Role 

  • Assisting the preparation of monthly management accounts for all group companies;
  • Maintenance of accurate financial records for the organisation, including the input of transactions onto Sage;
  • Maintain purchase ledger process - including the booking of invoices, approval, and set up of BACS payments;
  • Monitor and record the day-to-day transactions through the bank, including performing reconciliations at the month-end;
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly payroll; 
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns, including relevant back up;
  • Preparation of direct debit collections;
  • Assisting the preparation of the statutory accounts and with the year-end audit process;
  • Support the finance and admin activities of Social Investment Scotland and provide assistance to other members of the SIS team as required;
  • Act as a pivotal initial point of contact for ongoing customer relationships;
  • To represent the organisation at conferences and events to promote our services.

The Person

  • At early stages of accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Understanding, interpreting and appropriately presenting financial information
  • An awareness and background knowledge of entrepreneurial business
  • Working and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills; ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong attention to detail and strong numerical abilities 
  • Professionalism and commitment
