The Role

The role of Accounts Assistant will report direct into the Finance Manager. The role will require an individual who is able to work with a degree of autonomy and who is able to analyse their work and suggest improvements to current processes and procedures. The successful individual will have good GL experience and have strong Excel skills including pivot table and vlookups. Moreover, they will have strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate with relevant stakeholders in the business effectively.

The role of Accounts Assistant will offer a salary of £20,000 - £24,000 plus an excellent benefits package including: a bonus scheme and flexible working. The office is based in Edinburgh City Centre and is easily accessible via public transport. 

You will be involved in but not limited to the following duties: 

  • Reporting into the Finance Manager
  • Purchase ledger invoicing
  • Managing and processing staff expenses and company credit cards
  • BACs payment runs 
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Journals
  • Constant analysis of processes and procedures, suggesting improvements if/where necessary
  • Liaise with a variety of different departments in order 
  • Other ad hoc finance related duties

To be considered for the role you must: 

  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accountancy-based role
  • Have experience of operating accounting systems, such as Sage Accounting Software
  • Have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Be highly proficient on MS Office Excel i.e. pivot tables, vlookups etc.
