Active East is an exciting programme which aims to create a legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games for young people in the East of Glasgow by increasing levels of physical activity and building skills through volunteering.
Creating a community of young people who enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of an active lifestyle.
Providing opportunities for young people to expand their skill set, confidence and aspirations.
Creating the capacity, skills and understanding within the community to ensure that the impact of Active East is sustained.
In order to achieve this Active East, which has achieved Legacy Status, recruits 'Active Champions'; young volunteers aged between 14 and 25, who complete an individualised programme of awards and training in sport and physical activity and volunteering, putting these skills in to practice, within partner sport and youth organisations.
