Scale up or fall down: Scotland's growing tech sector
03 March 2017

iMultiply kicked off our first event in the “iMultiply does..” series by hosting an entertaining and informative evening in conjunction with BIG Partnership.  The event explored Scotland’s growing tech sector and featured superb speakers including Mallzee's COO Callum Stewart, former Vermillion Software CEO Marcus Noble and Craneware's Chairman George Elliott.

Callum Stewart, Kirsty Mackenzie, Martin Mutch, David ReidCallum Stuart gave us a great insight into Mallzee and his top 5 key learns from his experience building the business from a start up to becoming the UK's favourite fashion shopping app.

George Elliott shared his experience and personal observations as a non-executive chairman and director for innovative tech companies. George spoke about the importance of people in tech, planning, how to compete and win and the key areas Scottish tech businesses need to focus on to be successful.

Marcus Noble spoke about his experience exiting businesses and gave the audience an understanding of what works and what doesn’t when selling a business.  Marcus shared an example of when an exit worked and when it didn’t, noting that the difference in timing and market conditions can make all the difference. He highlighted the importance of making sure you have the right advisors and continue to sell all the way through the process and not lose focus.

The evening was a huge success and we look forward to hosting our next tech event later in the year.
