Meet Andrew Robinson - Recruitment Consultant at iMultiply

More

In our latest series of blogs we are going to be hearing from each member of the team here at iMultiplyOur sixth blog in the series is from Andrew Robinson, Recruitment Consultant at iMultiply.

Andrew tells us about his background, why he loves recruitment and why iMultiply are so great.

My background & experience

After completing my Business Studies degree at Napier University, I pursued a career in hospitality management.  It was here where I developed my passion for delivering an exceptional level of service and dealing with people from all walks of life.

How I got into recruitment

After a couple of years within hospitality management, I contacted a recruitment business that specialised in the industry and after only a couple of meetings they offered me the opportunity to become a trainee recruitment consultant.  I developed a good understanding of recruitment in this role but wanted to develop myself further by looking into new markets. I was fortunate enough to speak to iMultiply and have not looked back.

A day in the life

I find it important to have as much structure to my day as possible.  There is no such thing as a “normal” day in recruitment but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I arrive at the office at around 8.15am which allows me enough time to grab a coffee and a bowl of porridge for a much needed energy boost.  We all sit down for the team meeting at 8.30am each day. From this I make my action points for the morning, double check what meetings I have, respond to emails and then crack on with my business development.

The toughest decision of the day always comes at lunchtime – What to eat?

After lunch, I split my time between meetings with clients and candidates and business development.

Why iMultiply

The iMultiply Family - I was lucky enough to meet the team during the recruitment process and got a vibe that there was a real camaraderie within the office - thankfully my instincts served me right.

Kirsty has put in place a great structure for me to develop my skills and is also keen for everyone to have an opinion on how we make decisions for the benefit of the business. I trust the team I have around me which makes for a great working atmosphere (or at least until the pranks start to go back and forth!)

What makes us better than the other agencies

I truly believe our focus on providing an exemplary level of service is what sets us apart. We are always looking to better our service and when we do encounter errors we always improve next time round.

We provide a personal touch to all customers which is something that is underrated in the corporate world we live in now, I hope we can keep this as we grow.

My best piece of recruitment advice

Take time to make a measured decision. Both employers and employees can be guilty of rushing the process. Employers may need to find a solution to a problem quickly but by finding someone in a hurry they may find themselves back at square one.

Employees should consider the longer term impact that their decisions will have.  Find the role that is right for your future.

A little bit about me outside work

Outside work I am a sports enthusiast.  If i'm not playing tennis or golf I am shouting loud and proud for Man United and of course Brian O’Driscoll and the chaps in green.

On weekends, I like to meet up with friends for a beer and boast about the exploits of my fantasy football team.
