Meet John Gilbertson - Manager at iMultiply Resourcing

More

In our latest series of blogs we are going to be hearing from each member of the team here at iMultiply Resourcing. Our next blog is from John Gilbertson, Manager at iMultiply.  John tells us about his background, why he loves recruitment and why iMultiply are so great.

My background & experience

I joined a global bank directly from high school and over the course of 3-4 years, was promoted to Senior Branch Manager with overall responsibility for 2 branches and 20 members of staff.  It was around this time that I started considering the possibility of moving direction for longer term career development. I registered with a recruitment agency and they were so impressed with my experience that they hired me to work for them.

How I got into recruitment and why I love it

Within 3 years of joining a FTSE 250 recruitment company, I secured promotions to Team Leader and then Manager.  In February 2013, I joined iMultiply Resourcing as a Manager to help establish and grow a very exciting new concept within the recruitment industry.  I get a great deal of satisfaction helping candidates find their dream job and helping clients find the ideal person for their business.

A day in the life

No two days are ever the same, however typically I arrive in the office around 8.15am and read through my emails from the night before.  We start our morning meeting at 8.30am and discuss each opportunity indepth to ensure that we are facilitating and delivering on our service level agreements to our clients and candidates.

The rest of the morning is spent engaging with candidates regarding job opportunities and candidate attraction to ensure we are consistently meeting great talent to deliver on our clients requirements.

Lunch will be spent meeting with candidates so we can fully understand their technical abilities and suitability for our current requirements. I ensure we fully understand their motivations, career aspirations and what type of opportunities they would like to be considered for.

In the afternoon I focus on helping candidates to secure their ideal job. This can include career advice, interview preparation and discussing potential employers they would like to work for.

Why iMultiply

Kirsty (MD at iMultiply) was my Line Manager in my previous role and she is someone I have a huge amount of respect for. I really bought into the concept of a recruitment business where the main focus is great customer service.

What makes us better than the other agencies?

Our flexibility and level of service really differentiates us  from our competitors. We can offer a tailored solution to any recruitment requirements which can range from charities, SME’s to FTSE 100 companies.

Excellent service is at the heart of everything, we provide an honest and positive experience for all involved.

My best piece of recruitment advice

When discussing careers and CV’s, the biggest mistake I encounter is candidates making decisions based on the short term rather than the long term.  I would encourage all candidate’s to think through every decision and consider the long term implications to their decision, not just the immediate.

A little bit about me outside work

Outside work I spend most of my time with family, socialising or playing football. Family is hugely important to me and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a good get together or family meal.

I have just returned to playing football after a few years out following an injury so fingers crossed to keeping myself fit and no more injuries!
